South West Kisumu MCA Joseph Abiola has offered support for a three-day mass registration for Identity Cards.

The MCA said he has done this as the best support he can give Cord leader Raila Odinga in his 2017 presidential ambition.

Mr Abiola said this when he was addressing journalists in Kisumu town on Tuesday.

"There is nothing good we can offer our leader Raila Odinga. But I am declaring that I am going to support him by ensuring people get ID cards and they register as voters," he said.

He said the process will begin on Wednesday in areas including Ojola, Kanyawegi, Osiri, among others.

He added that the central registration point will be at Ojola at the Assistant Chief's office at Kisian.

The MCA further promised to mobilise residents in his area to register for ID cards and then get registered as voters.

He urged people who do not have ID card to come out and apply for the crucial document.

"I am asking all those who don't have these documents to come out and register. Everybody who comes will not pay for photograph nor be required to make any photocopy," he assured.

He added that he has given out two photocopying machines to be used during the process.

He also urged other leaders to join hands and work together to ensure people in their areas get IDs and are also registered as voters.
