Gitothua MCA Patrick Chege has urged the police to rein on people said be to re-introducing illicit brews in the area.
Addressing residents at Mukuyu trading center in Ruiru on Monday, the MCA said cases of illicit brewing were re-merging.
He asked chiefs to work and ensure that illicit brews and second generation drinks are not re-introduced.
“Local security officials should work tirelessly to tame cases of illicit brews that are slowly re-emerging,” he said.
Mr Chege who is also the Leader of Majority at the Kiambu County Assembly said illicit brews had shuttered the lives of many youth and elderly men.
He said action must be taken on people behind the illicit brews.
The MCA urged youth to keep off illicit brews and second generation alcoholic drinks.
He instead urged youth to work with their leaders t develop the ward.
In July last year President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered a nationwide crackdown on illicit brews and illegal alcoholic drinks.
The crackdown saw illicit liquor and dens destroyed across the country.
There have been fears of re-emergence of the illicit brews in some parts of Kiambu with Governor William Kabogo warning that he will not allow the re-introduction of the illicit brew trade.
