The Kisii County Assembly has finally approved the Kisii County Emergency Bill 2015 after a heated exchange between MCAs who were in support of the motion and those who are in the opposition in the assembly.

In the first session of the day, the MCAs failed to come to an agreement, something that also happened during the second session of in the afternoon but later on the two sides came to an agreement and passed the Emergency Bill 2015 in a session that was chaired by Speaker Kerosi Ondieki.

The assembly’s opposition however called on the county government to spend the money from the Emergency kitty for any cases that might arise from the heavy rains.

Yesterday, a session that was meant to discuss the Bill and pass it came to a standstill after Opposition MCAs walked out of the house over claims that the assembly speaker had chaired a meeting with the Members of the Assembly allied to the county government.

A move that forced the speaker of the assembly to apologise before the discussion of the Bill started.
