Two MCAs have asked Governor Jack Ranguma to implement county projects in their wards.
Jacktone Onunga of Nyalenda A and his Nyalenda B counterpart James Were said lack of implementation of the projects will make their campaigns difficult as voters will see them as part of the failure to fulfil the 2013 development promises.
Speaking at Oboch in Nyalenda on Friday during the launch of the Kisumu Urban Project (KUP) cobble stone road construction funded by the French Government, the MCAs said they have recently been put to task by the residents to explain why the proposed projects were not being implemented.
They noted that Dunga-Kachok Road among other feeder roads within Nyalenda Slum had been abandoned even after the county government allocated funds for their construction.
“Remember Mr governor that Nyalenda slum has the majority of votes in Kisumu Central as most residents here vote in the CBD. But the projects which had been proposed in this area are yet to be implemented with elections around the corner. What would you expect us to tell the voters in 2017 when we seek re-election?” posed Onunga.
“Mr governor Nyalenda people are not happy with you because projects are not implemented and there is no easy flow of information from your office to the people on what is going on about the projects. Tell us what is happening so that we can tell the public,” said Were.
Onunga urged the governor to create jobs for the youth in Nyalenda through projects, and move across the area so as to hear the public opinion on his leadership and promises to the people.
“Please avoid boardroom leadership and too much attention on the consultants. Come to the ground and speak to people so that you may know what their priorities are,” added Onunga.
