The Machakos County Assembly has opened its session on a high note after discussion on medical funds in public hospitals received great backup.
The assistant speaker in the assembly Nathaniel Nganga stated that the County government needed to urgently supply hospitals with drugs.
"We have accepted that the three things that need urgency action is the supply of medication drugs funds, repair of roads destroyed by Elnino rains and Ward Development Funds," said Nganga.
The Muthwani Member of County Assembly also supported the release of hospital drugs funds stating there was a crisis in medical shortage in Machakos County hospitals and dispensaries.
"The budget that we passed late last year has done very little to develop our County. We have medicine shortage and water problems which should be settled by Ward Development Funds," said Maitha.
This comes at a time when patients visiting different hospitals in the County are complaining of getting treatment but being sent to buy medicine in private chemists due to lack of enough drugs in the public hospitals.
