Nakuru County health department has put on the spot milk and meat traders who operate without licences warning them that they will be arrested and prosecuted.

On Friday, county health chief officer Samuel Kingori issued the warning stating that it had come to their attention that several milk traders were going about their businesses without valid licences from the ministry.

He added that the ministry will conduct a crackdown on all illegally-run premises before the festive season kicks in to mitigate all the health hazards that could arise from the sale of such unlicensed products.

"Let me take this early opportunity to warn those traders who do not have valid licences from our ministry that it will not be business as usual.We will hunt you down before you compromise the health of our fellow citizens," he warned.

He further challenged residents to be wary of such traders and report them to the nearest police stations since they were posing a serious health risks to their customers.

Kingori promised that the ministry would cooperate with the milk board to oversee a thorough crackdown of such traders in the county.
