Kisumu County’s Miss Tourism competition will be held on April 9, the department of Commerce, Trade Tourism and Heritage has announced.
The position currently held by Catherine Pete will first see auditions held in each of the seven sub counties before the final competition.
In a communication from the department, the auditions will take place on March 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31 in Muhoroni, Nyakach, Nyando, Kisumu East and Kisumu West respectively.
Another set of auditions will also be held on April 1 and 2 in Seme and Kisumu Central.
Participants will be required to have been Kisumu residents for at least 10 years and have a minimum qualification of Form Four with C plain and above and aged between 21 and 28.
Ms Pete who will be expected to crown her successor described the experience of being in the possession as interesting worth repeating.
“It was an honour being Miss Tourism Kisumu County. I will be giving way for the next Miss Tourism Kisumu County and I would wish to give the crown to the best hence I ask all the beauties from the county to come out and compete,” said Pete.
The holder of the position is expected to be the face of tourism in the county through promotion and marketing.
“I have done my bit and I hope the next person will continue pushing Kisumu as a tourism hub out there. As an ambassador I ensured I portrayed the county well,” she added.
