A fierce inferno engulfed Molo ADC seed potato complex bringing down the only potato research centre in Nakuru County last night.

The fire suspected to have been caused by electric fault gutted down the premises which include offices and stores valued millions of shillings.

Efforts by residents to put off the violent blaze turned futile with a section of those who turned up to rescue property overwhelmed.

Area resident have decried increased fire incidences in Molo and its environ calling on the county government of Nakuru to purchase a fire engine instead of borrowing services from Timsales Timber Company in Elburgon.

The residents claimed that the Nakuru county government was charging them Sh1,500 for every single business in order to buy firefighters since 2014 adding that no allocation has been done to ease fire accidents.

Molo OCPD Job Lesikinwa who arrived at the scene confirmed that investigations into the incident are on course.
