Molo residents have decried the resurgence of illicit brews in the area following a new model which brewers are using vehicles to sell their stuff.
The residents said the brewers have resorted to using vehicles and disguise themselves as taxi operators to sell the illicit drinks.
While articulating their grievances to Molo MP Jacob Macharia in the town on Wednesday, the residents said they want action taken against the rogue brewers disguised as taxi operators.
“We are petitioning our MP who is here today to take action against these people because these brews will kill our people,” said Jemimah Ngau, who lives in the area.
On his part, Macharia noted that he has received a litany of complaints about the matter, and he has been in talks with the police in the area asking them to take action.
“These people come here and if you want to get drunk, you get in, pay and have your drink while the vehicle strolls in town, and then when you are done, you get out very drunk,” he said.
He added that confirmed reports have it that the illicit brew is being sourced in Rhoda in Nakuru.
“We have tried so hard to fight illicit brew win this area but they want to take us back to some place where we should not go. I am asking police in this area to take action against those doing that,” he said.
Molo OCPD Job Lesinkwa said his team is investigating the matter and will apprehend those found culpable.
