The long wait for the renovation of the Nakuru-Molo road that passes through Soilo junction and connects to Njoro road will soon be over if words by area MP are anything to go by.

Addressing his constituents on Sunday evening in Molo town while on his monthly meet the people tour, Jacob Macharia confirmed that the feeder road that connects Molo and Njoro sub-counties will soon receive a facelift after being reconsidered by the Kenya National Highway Authority.

He called for patience as the authority completes some paperwork before getting down to the site assuring residents that it was a matter of weeks before real work starts.

“I understand that about 23 kilometres of the 48-kilometre road is within my constituency but things were complicated basing on the fact that the road falls in the KeNHA docket and it is responsible for everything to do with it,” he said.

Macharia added that such instances make it hard for even the county government to question the authority because it has its own development plan and timetable that cannot be restructured to favour specific areas.

Macharia confirmed to having met with KeNHA officials over the issue saying the authority has expressed its commitment in renovating the all-important road.

“KeNHA officials have confirmed to me that a contractual process for a major rehabilitation on the road is over and a contractor called Centre Star Contractors has been earmarked to do the job. I expect them to keep their word,” the MP noted.

The road’s pathetic condition has been a nightmare to traders, motorists and even visitors in the area over the years and has been characterised by unending potholes.
