Rumour mongering, spread of hate speech messages or anything close to that will not be tolerated in Molo, area Member of Parliament Jacob Macharia has said.
Speaking in Engashura over the weekend during the funeral mass of Mzee Zacharia Wainaina Ngigi, a prominent businessman in Molo, Macharia called for peaceful coexistence among his constituents and neighbouring areas saying that anything less than that was recipe for war and lack of unity.
The MP noted that Molo was a border area where peace would win it big for Nakuru as a county and her neighbours.
"Peace and harmony is a very crucial ingredient for development which translates into a productive society. If we want to make Molo great, we must dissociate ourselves with any activity that compromises our peace," he said.
Macharia further called on fellow leaders, church leaders and any other concerned authorities to help preach peace for the sake of building mutual understanding ahead of the 2017 polls saying that the fights being witnessed along other Nakuru border areas were regrettable.
He cautioned youths against being used to perpetuate hatred, saying that the law would not be lenient on anybody found guilty.
It took the intervention of senior government officials including Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery to end rift in Olenguruone at the border of Nakuru and Narok counties.
