Youth in Molo have expressed their gratitude to their local leader after he helped them to secure jobs in an ongoing road construction in the area. A majority who are graduates said that they chose to work as foremen, site clerks and other manual jobs to help them remain busy because of being jobless.

They further argued that youth unemployment was a real issue in the whole country something that they attributed to the surging number of crime levels and drug abuse. Antony Koech, an econonics graduate from Kenyatta University said that he has survived on manual jobs ever since he graduated in 2012 and called on the government to do something to end the unemployment menace.

"My advice to young people is that they should take up anything that comes by and remain focused. Now that white collar jobs are not forthcoming, be creative and think outside the box as you wait," he said.

Melisa Wamboi said that 6 years down the line after graduating with a diploma in Information Technology from Kenya Methodists University, she hasn't been able to secure a job yet.

"I am talking from experience, in Kenya, going to college is one thing, landing that dream job is another. The situation on the ground is very pathetic," she said.

More than 30 youths have been employed in the road construction project that stretches from the Soilo junction, Njoro, Elburgon, Molo upto Mau Summit.
