Equity Bank Foundation through its ‘Wings to Fly’ programme will sponsor more than 50 students from Nyamira County who are set to join Form One this year.
During an interview with a local Equity Bank Manager at Nyamira town today Mr Edward Ombiro said that they are considering students who scored 350 marks and above in the 2015 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.
He said that Equity branches in Nyamira and Kebirigo will sponsor 25 and 15 students respectively adding that orphans and other vulnerable children will be given first priority.
“Some 400 students applied for the sponsorship bursary but we only shortlisted 100 students who we are interviewing to get the number we require,” said the manager.
He said the bank is committed towards ensuring that the students from the area get quality education that will help them empower themselves in the days to come.
