Thika town CDF Chairman Ephraim Njihia has said over 1500 Thika Education Trust Fund (Thetfu) applicants have been vetted and approved in a period of on month.
He said that the disbursement of the Trust fund is set for this month in a date yet to be set after they finalized the vetting earlier this week.
The chairman said the criteria used in vetting and approving focused on the poverty-stricken families with the help of chiefs and their assistants in the society to confirm the beneficiaries’ status.
Njihia said education in Thika constituency is fundamental in his manifesto and he will ensure the poor children acquire basic education accordingly just like any other common mwananchi in the society in line with vision 2030.
He expressed his concerns with school dropouts in the society due to poverty and insisted that the CDF in partnership with the area MP Alice Ng’ang’a will ensure they improve the education levels in the area.
Njihia said taming the young generation in schools requires an extra proactive leader to engage the youths in activities which will help tame use of drugs and criminal activity.
He called on all wellwishers in Thika to support by offering their donations towards the Education Trust Fund.
