Kuresoi South constituency Bodaboda operators are full of praises for their area Member of Parliament after he supported them financially.
Speaking after attending a funds drive at Ole Township in Olenguruone on Friday led by area MP Zakayo Cheruiyot, a majority of the operators vowed to work diligently and observe traffic rules.
According to Sacco Chairperson Moses Lagat, the monies will be used in helping new members acquire licences.
“At Olenguruone bodaboda Sacco, safety and personal empowerment is our priority, that is why we called on the MP to lead us in a Harambee to facilitate realisation of some of our 2015 targets,” he said.
He urged other operators who were yet to embrace Sacco membership to follow suit saying that in the modern world, it was easier to achieve specific goals as a group than when one moves independently.
He noted that their Sacco was a real testimony on how Saccos were transforming the lives of individuals in the society going by the positive impact it had posed on select members.
“Today, some people that started with a single share are among the owners of the Sacco with not less than five motorcycles which means that they have employed other jobless youth to work for them,” he explained.
The funds drive that raised a total of 1, 115, 000 shillings was attended by among others MP Zakayo Cheruiyot, Emurua Dikir MP Ngong Ngeno, area MCA among others.
