As the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations came to an end, Ruiru MP Esther Gathogo expressed concern over the evident cases of exam irregularities in the country.

On Thursday, 12 teachers from The Star of the Sea Primary School were charged with being in possession of the just concluded exam papers.

Gathogo said teachers should act as an example to the pupils, terming the incident embarrassing.

According to the MP, teachers should be vigilant in ensuring exams are not leaked.

"Teachers should act as role models to students and pupils, and should protect the integrity of national exams," she said.

She urged students to work hard and avoid engaging in exam cheating, which can land them into problems.
