Muhoroni MP Onyango K'Oyoo is against the idea of Senators vying for gubernatorial seats in the 2017 general elections.
K'Oyoo said the Senators should focus at protecting devolution.
The MP said if the governors are bad, then the people will look for replacements but not with the senators.
“Our Senators are not through with the job we gave them. Let them wait for Raila to win the 2017 general election and guard his presidency at the Senate,” he said.
Speaking at Wambi primary school in his constituency on Friday where he opened four classrooms constructed by CDF, the MP said the strong Senators who were voted in 2013 should be given a second term in 2017.
K'Oyoo said Kisumu County Senator Prof Anyang Nyong’o once told him that Senate is a house of old politicians and their work is to guard the presidency of Raila.
He is wondering that Prof Nyong’o is salivating for gubernatorial seat in 2017 noting that the task needs an energetic politician.
“I have not heard Prof Nyong’o announcing his candidature for 2017 gubernatorial seat for Kisumu County but there are rumors. I wonder why Nyong’o will come down here to be the Governor,” he said.
K'Oyoo said that Kisumu Governor Ranguma hails from Kano clan and if the people of Kisumu have to make a change then they must look for a young politician from the same community for a replacement.
