Ruiru MP Esther Gathango has assured traders and hawkers at Ruiru market that the market will cleaned up and renovated.

Addressing traders at the market on Tuesday, the MP said that she is following up the matter with the county government.

Gathongo stated that she had received complaints from the traders over poor sanitation standards at the market.

“I want to assure traders and hawkers that I will follow up with the county government to ensure this market is cleaned up and sanitation improved, in order for you to have a conducive environment to conduct you trading,” said Gathango.

The Ruiru MP said the traders have a right to demand proper sanitation standards at the market, adding that she had asked the county government to renovate the market and construct modern stalls for the traders.

Last week the traders complained over poor sanitation standards at the market, threating to boycott payment of levies and taxes to the county government.
