West Mugirango Member of Parliament Dr James Gesami has raised concern over the low turn out for voter registration among eligible voters in his constituency.
Dr. Gesami noted that in most of the registration centers set in the constituency, there are just but a few numbers of persons going to register.
The MP asked leaders and other stakeholders to educate the public on the importance of acquiring voters’ cards, and urged his constituents to come out and register to avoid last minute rush.
“I want to call upon all the eligible voters to ensure that they register on time so that they can elect the leaders they need come 2017,” he added.
He called upon various leaders including administrators to ensure that they sensitize eligible voters to register.
“Its your right to vote and there is no need for you to wait to be told to register as a voter for you know we always need your vote to get better leaders,” he added.
He was speaking Monday morning at Gesiaga tea trading centre in Bosamaro ward while calling for people to register as voters.
The mass voter registration entered its second week today.
