Joseph Mukora wa Kimani, the newly re-elected Mataara tea factory director has promised to efficiently fast-track development opportunities for the factory in order to further reduce the cost of production.
Speaking on Monday during the swearing in ceremony held at the factory led by factory executive manager Martin Murigi, Kimani lauded the residents for believing in his leadership.
Kimani noted that during his six years leadership at the factory, the factory has immensely grown making it the third factory in the central region.
"I promise to work harder and offer wise leadership in my service delivery. By the end of year 2017, I have plans to make Mataara tea factory the best factory not only in central region but also in the whole country. We have worked best with farmers who have been very cooperative. I also expect similar solidarity in my other tenure to ensure that we grow in tea farming together," he said.
Kimani observed that the hydro-power under construction at Chania river would further reduce the cost of production for the factory passing the benefits to tea farmers in the area.
He commended the World Bank for facilitating the project that has seen over a hundred youths receives casual employment opportunities.
"We have a world bank funded hydro power project at River Chania which upon completion will see the factory reduce its production cost making the farmers reap big. I foresee better bonuses, better tea prices for farmers with every stakeholder’s collaboration," he said.
