Thika West OCPD Erastus Muthamia has warned boda boda operators against colluding with criminal gangs.
Speaking to the operators in Thika on Thursday, Muthamia warned stern action will be taken against those found working with criminals.
The police boss alleged cases where some rogue boda boda operators are working with criminals to rob passengers and residents.
He said the riders must adhere to the laws saying anyone found supporting criminal activities will be arrested and charged in court.
“We have information that some rogue boda boda operators could be working with criminal gangs to rob people,” he said, adding that police have launched investigations into the claims.
Muthamia said police will not allow instances of crime adding they have put in place proper measures to deal with criminals.
The Thika West OCPD urged the operators to work with police and help streamline security.
He said it is the responsibility of every citizen to support measures aimed at promoting security.
Muthamia added that law enforcers will remain on alert this festive season to ensure law and order across Thika.
The police boss appealed to the residents to continue volunteering information on the whereabouts of criminals,
He said that the relationship between the locals and the police is slowly improving adding that it will be critical in the fight against crime.
