Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has urged residents to ignore a section of leaders from the region he referred to us "critics" of development.

Speaking during a meet-the-people tour at Kinanie Shopping Centre in Mavoko Sub-County on Sunday, Mutua said there was a political force opposed to his Maendeleo Chap Chap initiative thereby doing everything possible to derail his government.

"I call on you residents of Machakos County to stand with me in to ensure development and support the Maendeleo Chap Chap initiative for your best interest," said Mutua.

He said the leaders needed to know that his government had the best interest of residents and the Maendeleo Chap Chap Initiative was is to speedily eliminate poverty.

Mutua said some of the politicians from the region had branded him a Jubilee mole because he was working closely with the National Government to ensure Machakos residents realise real and timely development.

"The initiative has taken off and therefore, no amount of intimidation would distract it. Its purpose and objectives must be realised according to my government's work plan," he added.

Mutua called on the residents to work with his government in promoting and initiating projects in the county to improve the region's economy.

"We should not listen to destructive politics that do not add value to our lives and instead work towards meeting our daily needs and realising individual dreams," he stressed.

Mutua urged residents to vote wisely in the next general elections and to eject "anti-development" leaders he says have been against his government's commitment to execute rapid and faster development.

"Such leaders should be aware that the electorates will judge them according to their development track records w," jhe said.

Mutua who was accompanied by a few members of Machakos County Assembly, including; Michael Mutua (Athi River Township) and Magdalene Ndawa (Matungulu) said politicians opposed to his Maendeleo Chap Chap Initiative would not be re-elected to office in 2017.
