National Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (Nacada) chairman John Mututho has accused Nakuru MCAs of allowing mismanagement of the county funds.
Mututho said the county assembly had failed in its watchdog role which prompted the alleged misuse of funds.
“They are also failing in the representation and legislation role which has in turn affected the spending of the county government,” said Mututho.
Mututho was speaking to the press in Nakuru on Thursday where he challenged the county assembly to take up its role seriously.
“As much as we are blaming the governor, there exists departmental committees. These are supposed to identify irregularities through information collected. It is their role to validate the information they get,” he added.
Mututho also pointed out that the news media, religious organisations and the business community are rich with information that could benefit the county leadership.
