Mwala Sub-County deputy county commissioner has asked residents to keep track of ex-convicts in a bid to monitor their daily activities and behaviour.

Speaking on Tuesday during a routine meeting in Nunga Location, Joseph Maina said the move will assist in identifying ex-convicts who go back to their old ways.

“Some of the ex-offenders who used to be thugs and drug dealers go back to the illegal activities once they are released from prison,” said Maina.

However, the deputy county commissioner lauded the reformed ex-prisoners who are using the skills they learnt in prison, such as carpentry, to boost the areas economy.

The administrator urged residents to provide information about all ex-prisoners living in the area.

He also encouraged lodging owners to keep a record of their respective customers on a daily basis.

"If you own a guest house or a lodging, ensure you record the details of all people who check in, to enable police track criminals,” said Maina.

This comes after a man was found murdered and his body dumped in Nunga Town on Sunday.

The perpetrators are still being hunted by the police.
