Nakuru Street Traders and Hawkers Association chairman Simon Nasieku has said that his life is in danger. Nasieku raised the alarm on Monday.

He says since he blew the whistle on the possibility of the Mungiki sect regrouping and extorting money from traders, mysterious people have been trailing him.

“I'm in fear for my life and I need urgent protection and intervention for my soul. Dead bodies never tell stories. I'm petitioning for protection under the Witness Protection Act. Strange people have been visiting my workplace since I blew the whistle,” Nasieku said.

He spoke after he reported threats to his life at Central police station.

The hawkers’ boss caused a storm in Nakuru when he claimed that members of the outlawed Mungiki sect have resurfaced, and are harassing hawkers with the aid of a senior Nakuru County politician.
