Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura has said that his performance will determine his re-election in 2017.

Obura said he was elected on the basis of development which he has strived to achieve through initiation of projects like the National Youth Service.

He said that those campaigning to unseat him in 2017 should know that Kisumu Central people are yearning for development and not empty promises.

Obura told those interested in the seat that it is not a walk in the park as he has raised the bar in terms of development.

“Those with interest to contest in 2017 should know that Kisumu people are very special, you just don’t wake up that you want to contest,” he said.

Speaking to his constituents on Sunday in Kisumu, Obura said he will not engage in early campaigns for his re-election and his development track record will propel his second term re-election.

The MP said that some of the pre-election pledges he made to the people of Kisumu have not been met and would rather concentrate on fulfilling them instead of politicking.

“I promised touts a bus of their own, I promised women groups a Sacco, I have started a secondary school in Migosi that needs a school bus. All these have not been achieved and I will not start campaigning until I have fulfilled them” he said.

Obura said he owes a lot to the people of Kisumu and promised to dedicate most of his time this year in bringing development to the people.
