The National Authority for Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse management has called for a concerted approach in assisting recovering drug addicts and alcoholics live normal lives again.

In a meeting held at a Nakuri hotel on Tuesday, they noted that everybody had a role to play in ensuring that drug and substance abuse was not affecting service delivery and provision of manpower.

Led by chairman John Mututho, the more than eight officers regretted the fact that some reformed addicts who had shown an interest in living a better life were being forced back into substance abuse as society has not embraced them.

"We are trying our best but if the society is not willing to accommodate recovering addicts, where are we heading to?" wondered Mututho.

This, he said, has pushed them to construct rehabilitation centres in every county to help them monitor the progress of the recovering addicts and only release them into society once convinced that they can fully stand on their own.

The former Naivasha legislature believes that the desired change can be achieved only if the society changed their mentality by actively participating in eradicating the illicit brew menace.
