The Nakuru county children officer Maureen Kamau has said that the county government is committed in the provision of quality education to orphaned children.
"The county government has put in place better strategies to help orphaned and vulnerable children by providing them with affordable and quality primary, secondary, post secondary education and vocational training," said Kamau.
Speaking on Friday at Philadelia Primary School during a prize giving day Kamau urged the society to help in promoting orphanages in Nakuru.
She noted that most children are denied education and this led the county government to launch the Nakuru Orphans Welfare Fund to cater for the interest of these children.
"Most orphans in Kenya are denied education rights by family and this promoted the launching of the Nakuru Orphans Welfare Fund to take up the responsibility of educating and offering scholarship to them," said Kamau.
She said that orphaned and vulnerable children of Nakuru and around the republic of Kenya have every right to education regardless of social status. She also urged parents to play their parental roles cautiously during this festive season .
"Parents should monitor the behaviour of their children during this festive season to ensure that they do not indulge in immoral activities," said Kamau.
