Residents of Nakuru County have been warned to be on the lookout for people masquerading as Kenya Power agents.

Regional manager Mr Jared Otieno warned that there were fake agents within Nakuru town purporting to be selling power tokens on behalf of the company to residents.

He said the tokens which are looking like scratch cards were fake and not from the power company.

"Do not be deceived by people telling you to bring money so that they sell you power tokens. Anything looking like a scratch card is fake and don't be deceived that it contains any token or electricity unit," he warned.

He further stated that the only way one could obtain the power token was either to visit the company's offices in Nakuru town or send a massage to a pay bill number belonging to the power company.

Otieno was, however, categorical that they had launched investigations into the development adding that those behind the crime would soon be brought to book.

"We have communicated with the county commissioner on this and investigations have in fact been launched. We hope to catch up with the criminals before they swindle many people," he said.
