Youths in Gilgil Sub County have been urged to seek technical skills rather than engaging in crime. Speaking while officially commissioning Langa Langa youth polytechnic in the area on Wednesday, Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua urged young people to focus on what would make their future better saying that everybody was in charge of their own lives.
"It will make no difference having this polytechnic here but our young people still engage in crime and drug abuse. We want you to attain technical skills that will help you make your lives better," he said.
According Mbugua, a majority of youth in the county had formed a habit of idling then later complaining of how the government is not helping them.
"In life, do something that will keep your mind pre-occupied because an idle mind is always very dangerous," the governor advised.
The polytechnic, located in Murindat Ward has been touted to be a real game changer as far as post secondary education is concerned in the larger Gilgil Sub County.
