A section of Youths from South Mugirango aligned to ODM have accused the party’s secretary general, Ababu Namwamba, of engaging in premature endorsements which could lead to wrangles in party nominations.
This comes after Namwamba endorsed Sylvanus Osoro in the South Mugirango parliamentary seat on Sunday despite the SG maintaining that his office will ensure party nominations ahead of 2017 polls are fair. The youths led by Charles Makori said Namwamba was acting in bad faith by endorsing an aspirant yet there were a number of other aspirants eyeing the seat on an ODM ticket.
“As ODM youths, we’re really disappointed by Namwamba’s action. The party is democratic and gives all its members chances to participate in transparent nominations. But that will be compromised because he has already shown his preferred candidate,'' said Makori.
They demanded that the secretary general apologizes publicly on the political blunder he made since it could lead to mass exodus from the party.
''He ought to apologize so that we don’t experience another mass exodus from the party. All these aspirants should be subjected to a fair nomination and not what Namwamba has done,'' he added.
The incumbent MP, Manson Oyongo of ODM, is expected to run for the Kisii gubernatorial seat making a number of aspirants increase their succession politics.
