ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwmba now wants Ethics and Anti-corruption commission to launch fresh probe against the former devolution CS Ann Waiguru.
Waiguru, who resigned from government late 2015 following alleged corruption in her ministry in which Sh800M was reportedly lost, was vindicated by the anti-corruption body of any involvement.
But on Saturday, when marshaling people to register as voters in Borabu, the vocal ODM MP labeled the manner in which Waiguru was cleared as ‘suspicious’ and called for fresh probe.
“EACC has really shocked us on Wiguru (Ann) saga. I am personally suspicious on the manner in which the probe was done hastily yet the same commission has been dragging in probing other cases. We only heard that she was cleared yet nothing concrete has come out of the NYS saga,” he said.
The Budalang’i legislator said Waiguru was receiving special treatment by powerful forces and insisted that the former CS should be held accountable for the lost funds in the National Youth Service.
“I still maintain that she should be probed afresh because EACC showed that it was acting under order from powerful forces to hastily finish the case and vindicate her so that she can be appointed to the so called lighter duties. She was the Minister and I refuse to accept that she is innocent on the matter,” she said.
She also challenged the new EACC boss Philip Kinisu and his team to take up the case since he had no confidence in the EACC CEO Halaque Waqo.
