The deputy speaker of the Nyamira County Assembly Mr. Andrew Magangi has accused the national government of attempting to control County Assembly budget implementation by blocking certain activities.
Speaking to the press in Nyamira town, the deputy speaker cited a case where the government had allegedly blocked participants from travelling to Rwanda for International Inter Governmental African games on December 6-12 on claims that the games would not add value to service delivery.
He wondered why the national treasury approved the trip for the Senate and National Assembly members to attend the games as spectators whereas participants were obstructed.
Mr. Magangi claimed that the move by the national government to allegedly block the County Assembly from participating in the games was an indication of its attempts to reverse the gains of devolution in Kenya.
