Garissa Governor Nathif Jama has condemned the recent inter-clan clashes that were witnessed in Dujis area.
Speaking during a stakeholders' consultation forum at a Garissa hotel on Monday, Jama condemned the clashes which left at least 24 people dead and rendered several families homeless.
The governor termed the killings as 'unwarranted propagation of violence' and called for a quick end to the conflict believed to have been fueled by a border dispute.
"I consider an attack on unarmed men, women and children as an attack against myself," Jama said.
"I want to preach a message of peace and ask all those who are feuding to quell the hostilities," he added.
The county boss further expressed his displeasure with the community leadership of the Auliyahan and Abdwak clans in the area claiming they have failed to offer solution to the ongoing animosity.
"It's immeasurably astounding when community leaders sit and watch as their young men engage in this menace and destroy property worth hundreds of thousands of shillings," the governor said.
"This is how Somalia started to disintegrate into the 25 years of chaos and anarchy that has taken over that country. Garissa people we risk going down that path if we do not cease and desist from this senseless fighting," he said.
The governor urged local religious leaders to take lead in restoring cohesion in the area.
