The chairman of Langata Sub-County Peace Committee Joseph Mbugua has asked The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to ban politicians who incite the public from holding or addressing public rallies.

Speaking during a peace forum held at Nicofeli hall in Kibera on Friday, Mbugua urged NCIC to crack the whip on politicians who use public forums to spread hate speech that may compromise peace in the country.

"As a District Peace Committee, we are shocked by the fact that those who propagate hate are people in senior positions. I advise the NCIC chairman Mr Francis Ole Kaparo to ban politicians who spread hate speech from addressing public rallies. They should be banned completely from standing in any political position," said Mbugua.

Mbugua said The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) should also take part in dealing with hate mongers.

"NCIC should recommend to IEBC to ban such politicians from vying for political positions. The commission has good intentions for the country but these intentions should be translated to good actions that can be implemented by the current and the future generations," he said.
