The modern society will only thrive if the youth are nurtured and molded to become independent and self reliant, a legislature in Nakuru has said.
Speaking in his backyard on Monday when he met several youth groups, Emurua MP Johanna Ng'eno accused young people of being misled by politicians who are not even aware of the youth agenda.
He called on them to stand up and be initiators of the change they desire in society, arguing that a majority of them had allowed politicians to trap them and only use them to distabilise society.
"You are the biggest shareholders in development, just that a majority of you are ambassadors of hatred, tribalism, poor leadership and many other unmentionable vices," the MP said.
He noted that Nakuru is one of the best investment destinations only if young people played their part well.
"Alcoholism, substance abuse and crime does more harm to the whole society than to you as a person, make informed decisions and all of us will enjoy the goodness of our County in future," he advised.
Ng'eno was full of praises to Governor Kinuthia Mbugua saying that allowing youths to be part of his administration had transformed Nakuru into one of the best places in the region.
