Embattled Nakuru County Finance CeC Anne Njenga has expressed shock after anti-corruption detectives raided her home and insisted that she is innocent.
She accusing some individuals of being jealous of her success.
Speaking to reporters at her home after being released from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) regional office in Nakuru town after she was whisked away earlier on Wednesday, Ms Njenga sensed malice in the whole process saying that the detectives might have been misled.
She took issue with the move to raid her private school Westy Primary School in Gilgil saying that the school had been in existence even before she was appointed county executive member and fears that the raid can lead to a mass exodus of students from the institution locking her out of business.
“On matters concerning the county, I cannot restrict anybody from checking the books of accounts there because it is a public office but my school started operating long time ago even before I joined the county government,” she said.
“It is a private business that has been my source of income for the past ten years, all the statements and overdrafts of bank accounts are with me, there is more than meets the eye here,” she added.
She eluded confidence in disapproving anybody out to taint her name implicating her in corruption deals saying that her conscience was clear and would never allow her to engage in deals that involve swindling of public funds.
“I am very clean and even ready for a lifestyle audit, all this is because of some people who are jealousy of my appointment but I believe God is with me,” she explained.
The CeC together with county senior accountant Billy Kiprotich are accused of accumulating wealth from questionable sources after civil societies demonstrated over corruption in the county.
