Kiambu county commissioner Mr. Alex Nkoyo has warned bar outlets contravening the Mututho laws on the sale and consumption of alcohol.
Speaking at Ndumberi grounds on Saturday, Nkoyo said that bar outlets and entertainment joints found disobeying the Mututho laws will be immediately closed down.
Nkoyo asked bar owners and operators to make sure that they adhere to the law adding that police will be conducting patrols to deal with the rule breakers.
“It is the festive season and we are telling bar operators to make sure that they adhere to the law on the sale of alcohol,” he said.
Nkoyo asked the bar operators to ensure they observe the opening and closing hours as stipulated in the laws.
On the same note, the Kiambu commissioner warned bar outlets selling alcohol to teenagers. The commissioner said that they have received information that some outlets are selling alcohol to under-age.
He said that licenses of such outlets will be immediately revoked and owners charged in court.
At the same time, the commissioner has put on notice people re-introducing illicit brews. Nkoyo said that police will not allow re-introduction of brews in the county. The commissioner directed chiefs and local administrators to fight the re-introduction of brews.
