IEBC Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba has denied allegations of voter registration by persons or organisations other than the electoral body.
Chiloba said there is no iota of truth in allegations in sections of the media that the commission had employed National Youth Service (NYS) personnel to carry out voter registration.
“There's no iota of truth in both allegations. The registration of voters and management of elections in Kenya is the constitutional preserve of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC),” he said in a statement.
He warned that anyone found executing the mandate of IEBC will face full force of the law.
“Anyone purporting to usurp this role is violating the law and is liable for prosecution,” he said.
He urged members of the public to present evidence on parallel voter registration to relevant authorities for action to be taken against the perpetrators.
“Anyone with such evidence should therefore report to the Police for appropriate action to be taken.
Moreover, the commission will also investigate any breach of the elections law if it receives any tangible information,” he said.
