Nyamira governor John Nyagarama has been challenged to publish the names of all the political appointees in his government and make the names available to the members of public.

This comes amidst claims from a section of county residents that the county leadership is incurring a lot of expenses in paying political appointees.

Gubernatorial aspirant Charles Mochama on Wednesday said making the list public will enable the residents to account for every coin they pay to the county government in form of taxes.

“I support calls to have the county government publish the names of political appointees. These people are paid through the tax payers’ money and there is a probability that they are excess. We want to know how much the county is spending on them and whether they are justified to earn that much,” he said.

Mochama made claims that the county government was losing millions of shillings in payment of people who were ‘idle’ in the offices and called for an inspection to kick them out.

“We only recognize officials who are under SRC mandate otherwise many political appointees would only sabotage the economy of our county. He has to publish the names and justify their work if he wants to avoid a possible peaceful protest,” he said.
