Nyamira governor John Nyagarama has dismissed claims that he was seeking witchcraft intervention to paralyse a youth summit scheduled for December 27, 2015 which has been linked to his perennial critics.

This comes a day after an online publication published a story associating the governor with witchcraft to sabotage the youth meeting.

Speaking on Tuesday morning at Mosobeti market on his way to Nyamira, Nyagarama urged youths to dismiss the information and attend the meeting to discuss their affairs.

Nyagarama wondered how he would have changed his mind overnight, barely a week after he joined other leaders in endorsing the meeting.

“I am really shocked that some people still believe in witchcraft. It’s a disturbing matter that people can claim that I have been seeking intervention from witches to sabotage a meeting to held by youths yet I have fully endorsed the meeting,” he said.

The county boss urged journalists to demonstrate balance and fairness by reporting both sides of the story.

He said his regime was ready to receive the resolutions from the organisers of the meeting and try to implement some of them to boost youthful population.

“I reiterate that I fully support the meeting and I am ready to receive some of their resolutions. The county will do its best to help the young population,” he added.
