Residents of Nyakach in Kisumu County are set to benefit from a road linking them to the market.
For over 50 years since independence, the people of Kasaye have been yearning for a road connecting them to Nyakwere market and now the works at Ombugo Road towards Kanyopange is on-going very well.
“Soon the people of Kasaye will be very much relieved to travel down via motor vehicle. My car tried the gradient and went to the pick and soon it will be motorable up to Kanyopange,” said James Omollo, the West Nyakach ward representative.
Currently, motorcycles can navigate up to Kanyopange very well. There is however still more works to be done in terms of removing the rocks and making it more efficiently motorable.
Omollo stated that he is certain that if the ward achieves Kasaye and other roads, then it will be a relief to everyone including small children who have suffered for all the years without accessibility.
He said that this will also spur economic growth and that is the change he has been yearning for in the ward.
A local, Terrance Otieno, however called for more of such projects to improve the infrastructure of the ward.
“Mheshimiwa, please construct the road from Oriang school to Pedo primary school. It is impassable even on foot owing to the big rocks,” said Otieno.
