Nyamira county government has been challenged by traders to use the revenue they collect from them to end the challenges facing them.

According to traders who spoke to this writer on Sunday at Gesima market and Keroka main market, the county government of Nyamira has never renovated market places since it attained power although they promised to do so.

Led by Charles Nyabwasu, a trader in the area they have appealed to the government to account for the money they collect to renovate the markets.

The traders added that the county government through the revenue they collect from market places can afford to budget for structures and to employ enough people who can help in keeping the market area clean.

Susan Onyoni, a business lady who sells tomatoes at Gesima market said that they have counted loses during this rainy season especially since they don’t have shades.

“We pay taxes so that our government can provide resources that can help us promote our businesses but unfortunately we don’t even have shades," noted Onyoni.

It is now one week since Keroka traders refused to be taxed over the poor market condition .
