Hotel owners in Nyamira town have been advised to ask for identification documents from their guests booking in their hotels before accommodating in the lodgings.
Addressing the press today at a Nyamira Hotel area Police Boss Rico Ngare said such measures will improve security inside the facilities and keep criminals at bay.
“The owners should ensure all their visitors produce identification documents before they are allowed to spend the night in the lodging. This will help the police trace such people if the crime is committed,” said Rico.
He added that criminals might take advantage during this festive season to terrorize residents but said police are on high alert to avert any threat.
“Our intelligence report shows that Al-Shabaab members do not spare any laxity and can cause harm at any time at any place,” he added.
The officer appealed to members of the public to share vital information with the police and report any stranger hovering in the area with suspected of committing acts of crime.
At the same time, he said security had been improved in the area after the government gave out more patrol vehicles to the county to boost the mobility of police officers.
