Nyamira MCAs have been urged to ensure good use of Ward Development Fund which will be given by the county government in the 2016 supplementary budget.
Speaking at Dorcas Sigara Academy, Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama urged MCAs to take the opportunity and ensure kids from poor backgrounds access education.
“The county government supports education even though it isn’t a devolved function. The ward development kitty will be in place and MCAs should ensure education is supported at the grassroots,” he said.
The Nyamira county boss challenged MCAs to uphold integrity and transparency when disbursing the funds and cautioned against using the kitty for campaigns and to benefiting friends and families.
“They (MCAs) must uphold integrity of the highest level. The kitty should support kids from vulnerable communities. Those who will be tempted to use it for other functions, the curse will be upon them,” the governor added.
He also challenged leaders to chip in and support bright children whose families are unable to fund their education.
