The county government of Nyamira has received Sh50 million worth of medical equipment from organisations based in Finland and Germany.
Governor John Nyagarama received the equipment, which included laboratory, theatre, hospital furniture and maternity kits.
Nyagarama said the equipment, donated by Life Worldwide Association, will be distributed to all sub-county health facilities.
While noting that the county has had only one ultrasound machine in history, Nyagarama said the donation also included six ultrasound machines.
The governor said that the county administration had undertaken key projects to improve healthcare, which include the purchase and installation of a 26-slide CT scan in the referral hospital, customised ambulatory services and the hiring of various health workers.
Nyagarama has since directed that some capacity be built in using the new equipment.
