Nyamira County residents have been advised to ensure they buy drugs from registered premises.
This comes a few days after Nyamira County Pharmacy and Poisons Board seized some counterfeit medicinal products from merchants within the county following a tip-off from the public.
The drugs impounded by the board were products that were banned from the country over 12 years ago, and some were not even registered.
Speaking during the stakeout on some of the shops carrying out the illegal business in Nyamira town, Head of the Board’s Inspectorate William Nyasani urged residents to be aware of such people.
“We have managed to arrest five but the other two might have got wind of our operation and ran away,” he said
Nyasani added that with the help of the police and their newly acquired crime inspectorate enforcement and surveillance unit, they will pursue the ones who escaped the dragnet adding that transaction of such a huge sum of the money shows that something is not right.
