Nyamira youth have been challenged to register for entrepreneurial courses in institutions of higher learning in a bid to boost their skills in business management.
Speaking during an entrepreneurial conference on Thursday at the county headquarters, Walter Mounde, a youth leader who also doubles as a human right activist said many youth are unable to advance their innovative ideas due to lack of entrepreneurial skills.
He said the courses will enable the youth to manage their businesses successful without exposing them to a possible risk of collapsing.
“This is the time for our youth to take entrepreneurial courses to boost their business management skills. Many of us are unable to advance brilliant ideas because we luck basic knowledge in business administration, and that can be solved by enrolling in business school,” he said.
Mounde said businesses collapse due to mismanagement thus encouraged youth in the area to consider enrolling in institutions of higher learning.
“Nyamira has brilliant minds but I have seen many businesses owned by young people collapse due to little knowledge on management. We must be ready to learn from those who have been in the field in order to succeed,” he said.
He urged the county government to come up with better ways of empowering youth by giving out refundable loans to reduce the rate of unemployment.
“The county has not done much to support the youthful population. Many of us are idle because not all can access the Youth Enterprise Fund. The county should set a parallel kitty that youth can access to boost their living standards,” he said.
