A member of Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) in Nyanza region, Zuberi Liete has called upon legislators in the region to avoid politicking and offer services to the electorate.
Liete, who until recently was the region’s United Republican Party coordinator said legislators within the region are pre-occupied with politics.
He said locals are yearning for development but are receiving lip services from their political leaders.
“Our people need services, they need development so that they can pull themselves out of poverty, be able to send their children to school and in return get jobs to assist their families,” he said.
Liete said politicking should not be given priority in a region that is lagging behind in terms of development.
Speaking in Kisumu on Monday, Liete told the local political leaders to concentrate on delivering their election pledges.
He said that politicians have abdicated their role of working for the electorates to engaging in politicking about Eurobond.
Liete said the region is experiencing a myriad of problems that needs concerted effort to address.
He challenged politicians to look back home before engaging in national politics that has little or no impact on local citizens.
“It is unfortunate that some politicians engage in endless politics yet those who voted them to power are languishing in abject poverty. I want to ask them to return home and initiate development to the people,” he said.
