Residents of Nyawita have raised an alarm over rising insecurity in the area.
The residents called on County Commissioner John Elangata to order for the deployment of security officers in the area.
According to the residents who spoke on Tuesday, many people now fear that businesses could collapse because of the insecurity.
“People get robbed all the time in this area, sometimes we are afraid to do our business freely because of the insecurity fear,” said Meshack Okwiri.
The residents say that cases of people being robbed in broad day light were on the rise.
“Cases of mugging are common here, ff we had security lights like other estates then chances of such incidents being reported would be minimal,” said Chris Opore.
The residents said they have tried raising the concern through the area chief but nothing has been done to date and they are now calling on the office of the county commissioner to intervene in the matter.
Efforts to get a comment from the office of the county commissioner were futile as he was unavailable for comment when this reporter visited his office.
